Black Widow Gets Standalone Movie For ‘Girls’ On ‘SNL’

Finally! Girls are getting their own superhero movie, thanks to Marvel, Scarlett Johansson and “Saturday Night Live.”

The show mocked Marvel’s lack of female superpower and apparent reluctance to make a Black Widow standalone film with a fake trailer for a new movie, “Black Widow: Age of Me.”

So what does the heroine need when making a “girl” superhero film? A day job in fashion, an unrealistically large apartment, a tendency toward endearing klutziness, boy trouble, ice cream and lots of tears, of course.

“You wanna know: why no Black Widow movie? Does Marvel not know how to make a girl superhero movie?” asks a voiceover at the beginning of the clip. “Chill. Marvel gets women.”

The trailer follows Natasha Romanoff as she wears a magenta cardigan sweater over her iconic black uniform (complete with floral heels which, predictably, don’t fare well against the city streets), gets noticed by her tough boss at her Fashion Weekly internship, hangs out with her best Avengers friends, and finally, meets a love interest – Ultron.

“From Marvel Studios, and the writers of ’27 Dresses,’ comes the story of a superhero and her super romance,” says the voiceover.

When her whirlwind romance with Ultron doesn’t work out, BW packs her bags for Paris – but her plans are thwarted when The Hulk (Bobby Moynihan) offers her ice cream, and she begins to fall for him.

“Marvel – we know girls,” states the voiceover at the end of the trailer.
