Bob Barker Weighs In On Ellen’s Puppy Problems

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (November 1, 2007) – Bob Barker, retired host of the “The Price Is Right” and long time pet advocate, sat down with Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush to discuss Ellen’s Iggy-Gate.

As it turns out, Bob’s concern for the welfare of the dog has him siding with the rescue group, and not Ellen.

“Well it was a unfortunate situation first of all. The rescue group was right,” said Bob.

The pet advocate worries about the possible fate of animals that are not properly placed in people’s homes. He believes the rescue group actions were justified.

“It should have a clause in its contract that if you are not going to keep this animal, you are going to have to bring it back to the rescue group. Otherwise, there are people that would just put it out of the house, just abandon it, or sell it for research. It could have a horrible end to its life,” Bob explained to Billy. “So, the rescue group is absolutely right.”

Though Bob was firm in his stance, he does feel Ellen’s intentions were good.

“I understand she was going to provide a good home for [Iggy], but what should the rescue group do? It hadn’t checked out that home! It didn’t know about that home and took the dog back,” he added.

Bob feels there was not an easy solution for Ellen’s puppy problem, saying, “It was a no win situation.”

Regardless of the controversy, Bob is able to see “Iggy-Gate’s” silver lining.

“It was good for people to learn about this,” he concluded.
