‘Bold & The Beautiful’s’ Darlene Conley Passes Away

LOS ANGELES (January 16, 2007) — The actress who played a fashion mogul on “The Bold and the Beautiful” for nearly 20 years has died.Darlene Conley was 72. A spokeswoman says Conley died of stomach cancer.

The veteran stage and T-V actress was known for her role as the feisty, red-haired Sally Spectra. The part earned her two Emmy nods and six Soap Opera Digest Awards.

Conley began her career in the theater as a teenager, and went on to play small parts in a number of films. She then landed meatier roles in daytime dramas, including “Days of Our Lives,” “The Young and Restless,” and “General Hospital.”

Conley was diagnosed with stomach cancer about three months ago. A spokeswoman says producers for “The Bold and the Beautiful” were deciding on how to portray the fate of her character.
