Boy Meets World Sequel Series In The Works; Ben Savage & Danielle Fishel In Talks To Appear (Report)

In news that could potentially cause a massive uptick in the number of 20 and 30-somethings who watch the Disney Channel, a sequel series to “Boy Meets World” in is reportedly the works!

According to TV Line, the cable network is in the “early stages” of developing the show, titled “Girl Meets World.”

“Girl Meets World” would center around the preteen daughter of original series stars Ben Savage (who played Cory Matthews) and Danielle Fishel (Topanga Lawrence), the website reported, who married toward the end of “Boy Meets World’s” seven-season run on ABC.

While neither Ben nor Danielle have commented on the news on their respective Twitter pages, Danielle, 31, revealed she, Ben and “Boy Meets World” co-star Rider Strong (who played Shawn Hunter on the show) still keep in touch.

When asked, “Do you and Ben Savage and Rider Strong still meet from while to while?” by a Twitter user on Friday, Danielle answered, “Yes,” and shared Rider’s Twitter handle with her followers.

Since the show ended in 2000, Danielle has appeared in several films (including “National Lampoon’s Dorm Daze”), acted as a spokesperson for Nutrisystem, enjoyed a stint as a special correspondent for “The Tyra Banks” show and hosted “The Dish” on the Style Network.

Ben, 32, has appeared in multiple TV shows, including, “Bones,” “Without a Trace” and “Chuck.”
