Brad Pitt Goes ‘Inglorious’ For Tarantino

It’s official – Brad Pitt has joined Quentin Tarantino’s WWII film, “Inglorious Bastards,” The Hollywood Reporter reports.

According to the trade, Brad will play Lt. Aldo Raine, a Southern rebel turned Jewish resistance leader, who leads eight Jewish American soldiers on a campaign of vengeance on Nazis in German-occupied France.

Other actors reportedly still in talks to join the cast include Simon Pegg, David Krumholtz, B.J. Novak, Eli Roth and Nastassja Kinski.

The Hollywood Reporter writes that, “Pegg would play a British lieutenant. Krumholtz’s part would be that of a member of Pitt’s team.”

Pitt and Tarantino have never worked together before. Hollywood is buzzing on the potential appeal of the actor and director working together.

“Inglorious Bastards” will be co-produced by The Weinstein Co. and Universal. Filming begins in Germany on October 13. It is expected to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in 2009. Next up for Pitt, after “Bastards,” will be the boxing drama, “The Fighter.”

Pitt has a relatively clear schedule for the fall, though he is set to start shooting the boxing drama “The Fighter” for Paramount late this year or early next year.
