Britney Spears is not having a good start to her New Year. Her custody battler with ex-husband Kevin Federline continues, she was recently hospitalized after a meltdown, and now the pop singer has popped her tire.
Access Hollywood has learned that Britney had a flat tire while driving through the Los Angeles community of Brentwood on Monday night. She abandoned her white Mercedes on the road and got a ride from a photographer who was trailing her.
However, the residents of Brentwood and the LAPD were not happy with Britney’s decision to leave her car in the middle of the road.
“Ms. Spears’ car was impounded,” said Lt. David Grimes of the Los Angeles Police Department. “Officers on the scene told me it was blocking the roadway, and that it was unsafe enough to leave at the location.”
Spears was not given any special treatment when it came to the handling of her towed car.
“It was towed by a private company that’s contracted with the city,” said Grimes. “Her car is being held at the official police garage tow yard. There’s not a hold on the vehicle. She just needs to show up to obtain it. She’ll have to pay tow fees, and that total cost depends on how many days she leaves it there.”
An employee of Quicksilver Towing confirmed to Access, they towed a newer model white Mercedes in the Brentwood on Monday night. However, they could not confirm who the owner of the car was. But they did say high end cars, like Britney’s Mercedes, would be held for 120 days before auction.
