Brooke Burke: Misty May-Treanor Out Of ‘Dancing’ & Facing Surgery

Misty May-Treanor will not continue competing on “Dancing With the Stars,” according to fellow cast member Brooke Burke.

“It’s such a sad situation,” Brooke revealed during an interview on “Valentine In the Morning” on LA’s 104.3 FM. “It happened…. She’s out of the competition.”

In a later interview with Billy Bush for Access Hollywood and “The Billy Bush Show,” Brooke added that Misty, who has torn her Achilles tendon, may go under the knife within days.

“We’re all pulling for her, we don’t know what’s going to happen yet,” Brooke told Billy. “I think they’re going to do a package about it on the show. She’s waiting to get some doctor’s results. She may be having surgery this week.”

Though Brooke’s own partner, Derek Hough, was rushed to the hospital after blacking out, following a spill he took during rehearsal, Brooke said she was surprised Misty, an Olympic gold medalist in volleyball, is leaving the competition.

“It’s sad. It could have happened to any one of us,” Brooke told Billy. “For Misty, it’s especially difficult because of her career and it can end just like that on the show. We’re pushing our bodies to the limit. Injuries are bound to happen. And we’re really rooting for her.”

As previously reported by AccessHollywood.com, Misty suffered the injury on Friday. Producers of the hit ABC show would not and still have not officially confirmed Misty is out of the competition.

“Misty May-Treanor sustained an injury on Friday and received immediate medical attention,” show producers told Access on Saturday in a statement. “Despite previous reports, she did not break her ankle. She is resting comfortably at home. Doctors will reevaluate her condition on Monday and determine the outcome of her participation on the show.”

Producers confirmed on Monday, however, that a couple would be eliminated on Tuesday’s broadcast.
