Brooklyn Decker: ‘I Auditioned My Butt Off’ For ‘FWBL’

Brooklyn Decker hits small screen on Monday night, starring in “Friends with Better Lives,” a new comedy on CBS.

And while the supermodel and actress seems perfectly suited to play a gorgeous woman (Jules) who is madly in love with her hippie soulmate on the show, she told AccessHollywood.com that she worked hard to get the role.

“What I loved was not even what I saw for Jules, for my character, in the pilot, but where I saw her going, because the whole idea of ‘Friends with Better Lives’ is you’re not playing the eternal optimist all the time,” Brooklyn said. “There are cracks and that’s where things get interesting and the idea of Jules, the seemingly perfect, madly in love person, hitting rock bottom, seemed very funny to me. So that really was a huge pull and then we have an incredible team writing this. All of those factors combined – I auditioned my butt off to get it.”

Brooklyn said she had several auditions before she was told the role was hers.

“They were supportive, but there were four auditions and there was a lot of convincing,” said the relative television newbie (the film star has had just a few TV cameos prior to this gig). “So I definitely fought for this one.”

The series, which premieres Monday, March 31 9:00-9:30 PM on CBS, after the series finale of “How I Met Your Mother,” stars Brooklyn, Kevin Connolly, Majandra Delfino, James Van Der Beek, Zoe Lister-Jones and U.S. TV newcomer — Aussie Rick Donald, who plays Jules’ fiancee, Lowell.

“He’s the sweetest,” Brooklyn said of her co-star, who she first met on set.

“We met at the table read and they were like, ‘You two meet and you’re gonna be naked in the episode together this week.’ And so it was like a very abrupt, fast, kind of introduction and we just got right into it and luckily he is wonderful and just the most perfect cast mate you could possibly ask for so he made it very easy to work with,” she added.
