Cameron Diaz & Gore Have 60 Seconds To Change The Earth

Actress Cameron Diaz turned up at Live Earth to share her stories of contributing to saving the environment. She also used the opportunity to announce, alongside former Vice President Al Gore, a viewer contest to encourage blue planet dwellers to come up with new promo spots to save the earth.

“:60 Seconds To Save The Earth” is a new film contest challenging earth lovers of the United States, United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland to create a new ad campaign aimed at encouraging people to help fight climate change. Interested participants are being instructed to make a 15, 30 or 60 second spot. They can visit Current TV’s Eco Spot Contest website to get music clips and video clips from the ITN network to use in their promos.

“:60 Seconds to Save the Earth is a great, creative way for young people from around the world to help inspire the changes they’d like to see for the planet,” Diaz said.

The actress as well as Hollywood celebrities including George Clooney, “Pirates” star Orlando Bloom, Kate Winslett’s film director husband Sam Mendes have been lined up to judge the clips.

The winner they select will have their spot shown internationally and on MySpace’s Impact channel. The grand prize winner will also win a Toyota Hybrid. Three finalists will take home Sony electronic products and 16 semi-finalists will receive T-Mobile Sidekicks. The contest is being sponsored by Current in association with Al Gore’s Alliance for Climate Protection.
