Carrie Fisher Dies At 60: Hollywood Mourns The ‘Star Wars’ Icon

Carrie Fisher’s legacy lives on.

Following the “Star Wars” actress and bestselling author’s passing on Tuesday morning, her colleagues and loved ones paid tribute to her memory throughout social media.

Expressing both shock and sadness over her loss, Fisher’s “Star Wars” co-star Mark Hamill was among the first to react to the news, while other Hollywood figures quickly followed suit.

“No words #Devastated,” Hamill tweeted, captioning a flashback photo of himself and Fisher in character as Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia, respectively.

Another “Star Wars” alum, Peter Mayhew, also weighed in on Twitter, referring to Fisher as “the brightest light in every room she entered.”

William Shatner, Bette Midler, Anna Kendrick and more also shared their condolences, as Fisher’s “Catastrophe” co-star Sharon Horgan recalled her time working with the icon on the Amazon comedy series.

“She was the most generous, fun, gifted, smart, kind, funny funny funny person I’ve ever met. She certainly wasn’t ready to go,” Horgan wrote on Instagram. “I’m so glad we became pals. I’m so devastated at her loss. I want to write about her more but I can’t process yet.”

Harrison Ford offered his sympathy to Fisher’s family and friends in a statement released on Tuesday, in which he called his “Star Wars” co-star “brilliant, original … funny and emotionally fearless,” while applauding her for living her life “bravely.”

In a statement from George Lucas, the “Star Wars” mastermind praised Fisher as “extremely smart; a talented actress, writer and comedienne with a very colorful personality that everyone loved.”

Disney chairman and CEO Bob Iger issued a statement honoring Fisher as “one-of-a-kind, a true character who shared her talent and truth with us all with her trademark wit and irreverence.”

Citing the “millions” who “fell in love” with Fisher after her star-making turn as the “indomitable Princess Leia,” Iger went on to say in his statement that she will “always have a special place in the hearts of ‘Star Wars’ fans as well as all of us who were lucky enough to know her personally.”

On Friday, NBC News reported that Fisher had gone into cardiac arrest while aboard a flight from London to Los Angeles. The hashtag “#MayTheForceBeWithHer” began trending shortly afterward, as fans shared hope for her recovery.

Fisher’s mother, Debbie Reynolds, reached out on Facebook on Tuesday to thank those who “embraced the gifts and talents” of her “beloved and amazing daughter” over the years.

Thank you to everyone who has embraced the gifts and talents of my beloved and amazing daughter. I am grateful for your thoughts and prayers that are now guiding her to her next stop. Love Carries Mother
