Carson Kressley Wants On ‘Fashion Police’

If Carson Kressley can read a drag queen, he can surely read the red carpet on “Fashion Police”!

The new “RuPaul’s Drag Race” judge stopped by Access Hollywood Live on Tuesday, where he dropped a “Fashion Police” casting bomb – in the form of his fabulous self.

“I’m not really mean at all, but I could pretend to be,” Carson, who has covered numerous red carpets, told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover.

“I would love to work on [‘Fashion Police’] as well [as ‘Drag Race’],” he continued.

According to Carson, the show has some big heels to fill without Joan Rivers.

“I think everybody wants it to be like it was when Joan was there and she’s irreplaceable. She had that great gift of she could be really hard on somebody, but you still wound up liking her and you never had a problem with her commentary,” he said. “Joan is Joan. We all loved Joan and she could say whatever, and she kind of said what we were thinking. So you never got mad at Joan and that’s going to be really hard [to recreate.]”

Carson credits Joan for being able to be the butt of her own jokes.

“She was self-deprecating that she kind of like, she got a hall pass because she would say the same thing about herself,” he said. “So I think that’s the key.”

As for what he’d bring to “Fashion Police,” Carson said it’s all about his couture cred.

“I’ve been around the block, so to speak, and I have done all the red carpets and worked with all these people, and I have the chops to talk about what they’re actually wearing,” he told Billy and Kit. “The key is let’s not take it so seriously. It’s people walking around on red carpet[s] and they’re all making millions of dollars. You can take a little flack. As long as it’s not, I guess, personal. It’s about the clothes.”

“RuPaul’s Drag Race” airs Mondays at 9/8c on Logo.
