Casey Kasem In Critical Condition

Radio legend Casey Kasem is in critical condition at a Washington state hospital.

“He is currently being treated for a wound infection related to a serious pressure ulcer, commonly referred to as a bed sore,” Scott Thompson, a spokesman for St. Anthony Hospital, told Access Hollywood in a written statement.

The 82-year-old retired host of “American Top 40” has Lewy body disease, a serious form of dementia.

The Hollywood icon’s admittance into the medical facility on June 1 was overshadowed by a family feud — in front of cameras — between his second wife Jean Kasem and his eldest daughter from a previous marriage, Kerri Kasem.

Last Sunday, Kerri arrived with paramedics at the western Washington residence where Casey and Jean were staying, demanding that he be admitted to a hospital. The fight culminated with Jean screaming a biblical verse and hurling a package of raw hamburger meat at Kerri.

Casey’s children from his first marriage and their stepmother have been involved in a bitter legal battle over visitation and who should make decisions about the entertainer’s care. The siblings allege their stepmom has prevented them from visiting their dad for quite some time.

In May, a judge in Washington granted Kerri temporary visitation rights of one hour per day and directed that her father could be seen by a doctor of her choosing. Previously, Jean was ordered by a judge in California to hand in Casey’s passport and was temporarily forbidden to travel out of the country with her husband.

Kerri and Jean are scheduled back in court in Washington on Friday afternoon.
