Casting Call: ‘Breaking Bad’ Star Bryan Cranston To Play LA Mayor In ‘Rock Of Ages’

Bryan Cranston, the Emmy Award-winning star of AMC’s “Breaking Bad,” has signed on to play the Mayor of Los Angeles in Adam Shankman’s upcoming “Rock of Ages” big screen reboot.

“So honored! Bryan Cranston is joining the cast of #rockofagesmovie!” Shankman Tweeted on Saturday. “LA has a mayor!”

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Cranston joins a star-studded cast including Tom Cruise, Catherine Zeta-Jones, “30 Rock” star Alec Baldwin and Paul Giamatti.

“Dancing with the Stars” pro Julianne Hough will star as Sherrie, the small town girl who comes to Hollywood in search of music fame and catches the eye of aging rocker Stacee Jaxx, played by Cruise.

The musical film is slated for release on June 1, 2012.
