Casting Call: Carell Headlining ‘Links’; Damon & Brolin Redoing ‘True Grit’

Comedian Steve Carell is par for the course. He’s taking on a leading role in Warner Bros.’ “Missing Links,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. The golf comedy is based on a novel from ESPN’s Rick Reilly.

The plot centers on a group of scrappy golf buddies who concoct a plot, which will get them access to better courses.

Carell will appear next in April 2010’s “Date Night,” alongside fellow NBC comedienne Tina Fey.

Meanwhile, Variety reports that Matt Damon and Josh Brolin are in talks to join the remake of 1969’s Western “True Grit,” which is slated to begin production next March. Jeff Bridges is reportedly already attached to the project as a U.S. marshal. The original starred John Wayne, Robert Duvall, Dennis Hopper, Jeff Corey and Glen Campbell.

Meanwhile, the trailer for “Green Zone,” Damon’s reuniting with “Bourne Ultimatum” director Paul Greengrass came out today on Yahoo Movies!
