Casting Call: Christopher Plummer Joins ‘Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’ Cast

Veteran actor Christopher Plummer has been inked for a new “Tattoo.”

Plummer, 80, will join the cast of “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” Access Hollywood has confirmed.

Plummer will step into the role of Henrik Vanger, the ailing industrial mogul who hires Mikael Blomkvist (Daniel Craig) to find his missing niece.

Production on the film – starring Rooney Mara as anti-heroine Lisbeth Salander – has begun in Sweden. The movie, also featuring Robin Wright and Stellan Skarsgard, is scheduled for release in December 2011.

Plummer, whose recent film credits include “The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus,” “The Last Station” (for which he was Oscar nominated) and voice roles in “9” and “Up,” is best known for his role as Capt. Georg Von Trapp in 1965’s “The Sound of Music.”
