Casting Call: De Niro, Pfeiffer, Kutcher & More In Talks For ‘Valentine’s Day’ Sequel ‘New Year’s Eve’

Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer, Hilary Swank and Ashton Kutcher may be about to lock in their “New Year’s Eve” plans together on the big screen.

The Hollywood heavyweights are in talks to join Garry Marshall’s “Valentine’s Day” follow-up, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Much like it’s predecessor, “New Year’s Eve” will showcase multiple story arcs that all connect throughout the film, as a group of New Yorkers navigate their way through romance during the “Auld Lang Syne” holiday.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, De Niro would play a jaded old man dying in the hospital, Pfeiffer would take on the role of a frustrated secretary, Swank would play a TV producer working on a Times Square New Year’s Eve show and Kutcher – who starred in “Valentine’s Day” — would play a guy who hates New Year’s Eve.

The quartet would join an already loaded ensemble cast, which includes the previously announced Lea Michele, Abigail Breslin and Meryl Streep.

Production on the film is scheduled to begin later this month, with a December 2011 release date in mind.
