Casting Call: Mark Wahlberg Picks Up Ryan Gosling’s ‘Bones’

Mark Wahlberg picks up Ryan Gosling’s “Bones.” Eva Longoria is heading back to school. Plus, Zooey Deschanel says “Yes” to Jim Carrey. It’s all in the latest edition of the Access Hollywood Casting Call…

Just one day before shooting was scheduled to begin, Mark Wahlberg has replaced Ryan Gosling in “The Lovely Bones,” according to Variety.

Wahlberg steps into the lead role of Jack Salmon, the grieving father of a young girl in the Peter Jackson-directed adaptation of the Alice Sebold novel.

Despite gaining 20 pounds and growing a beard for the role, Gosling reportedly left the project over creative differences.

Wahlberg will now share the screen with Rachel Weisz as a couple whose world is shattered after the murder of their daughter, who now watches over her family – and her killer – from heaven.

Filming is slated to begin today in Pennsylvania.

Wahlberg also recently committed to star opposite Brad Pitt in “The Fighter,” the drama about Boston boxer “Irish” Mickey Ward, which is scheduled to begin filming in 2008.

He also recently wrapped production on M. Night Shyamalan’s “The Happening,” alongside John Leguizamo, Spencer Breslin and Zooey Deschanel.

Speaking of Deschanel…

Zooey Deschanel will share the screen with Jim Carrey in “Yes Man,” per The Hollywood Reporter.

Carrey plays a man who decides to turn his life around by saying “yes” to everything that comes his way, which may prove to cause more harm than good.

Deschanel will play his romantic interest as a woman he meets on his journeys.

Bradley Cooper has already been cast as Carrey’s on-screen best friend in the film, based on British author Danny Wallace’s memoir.

Eva Longoria Parker, Jason Biggs and Rob Corddry in the classroom comedy “Lower Learning,” reports Variety.

The trio joins the previously announced Monica Potter, Kyle Gass and Ed Helms in the elementary laugher.

Eva will play a school inspector assigned to look into shady allegations at a school run by an undisciplined principal.

“Lower Learning” is slated to hit theaters in early 2008.

Eva andBiggs will also team up for the comedy “Over My Dead Body,” about a ghost tries to sabotage her former boyfriend’s current relationship with a psychic. The film is also scheduled for an early 2008 release.

The “Desperate” diva last appeared on the big screen along Kiefer Sutherland and Michael Douglas in 2006’s “The Sentinel.”

Noah Wyle and Angela Bassett have joined the cast of the thriller “Nothing but the Truth,” reports Variety.

From writer-director Rod Lurie, “Truth” follows a reporter who is sent to prison after outing an undercover CIA agent and refusing to reveal her source.

Bassett will play the reporter’s editor-in-chief, while Wyle plays the publication’s legal advisor.

They join the previously announced Kate Beckinsale, Matt Dillon, Alan Alda and David Schwimmer in the film.
