Casting Call: Scarlett Johansson To Play Janet Leigh In ‘Making Of Psycho’

Scarlett Johansson has reportedly signed on to play actress Janet Leigh in Fox Searchlight’s upcoming film, “Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho.”

The 27-year-old star will take on the role alongside “W.E.” star James D’Arcy, who has been cast as Anthony Perkins, according to Variety.

With director Sacha Gervasi at the helm, the film will follow Alfred Hitchcock (played by Anthony Hopkins) and the obstacles he encountered while making the iconic 1960 horror flick.

Helen Mirren will play Hitchcock’s wife Alma, according to the trade paper.

Variety sources report that “Making of Psycho” is being compared to “My Week With Marilyn,” and could garner Johansson accolades similar to those earned by Michelle Williams for her portrayal of Marilyn Monroe.

The film is slated for a 2013 release.
