Casting Call: Seth Rogen Steps Into ‘Hornet’s’ Nest

Seth Rogen steps into the “Hornet’s” nest. Benicio del Toro marches into the role of “Che.” Plus, five stars sign on to tip back the “Bottle.” It’s all in today’s Access Hollywood Casting Call?

“Knocked Up” star Seth Rogen is trading the laughs for a world of crime fighting.

Rogen is in final talks to write, and most likely star in, the big screen adaptation of “Green Hornet,” according to Variety. He would play uber-rich publisher-turned-masked crime fighter Brit Reid, a role George Clooney, Mark Wahlberg and Jake Gyllenhaal have all flirted with since the project’s conception.

Film would be based on “The Green Hornet,” which started as a radio show before being turned into a comic book, film and TV show in the 1960s.

Rogen, whose other film credits include “The 40-Year-Old Virgin,” “Donnie Darko” and “You, Me and Dupree,” will next be seen on the big screen in “Superbad,” slated for an August 17 release.

He recently wrapped work on the comedy “The Pineapple Express,” about a stoner (Rogen) and his dealer (James Franco), who are forced to go on the run from the police after the pothead witnesses a cop commit a murder.

Benicio del Toro will play Argentine revolutionary Ernesto “Che” Guevara in a film directed by Steve Soderbergh, reports the Associated Press.

While no official title has been released, the actor’s official Web site and several movie sites have said the film would be called “Guerilla.”

Soderbergh will reportedly spend nine weeks filming across Spain, and the project will be shot entirely in Spanish.

The movie will reunite del Toro with Soderbergh for the first time since the pair worked together on the 2000 drama “Traffic,” for which del Toro won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.

Fellow Oscar nominee Catalina Sandino Moreno (“Maria Full of Grace”) and Julia Ormond have also been announced in the cast.

The film marks the second biography about the famous Argentine guerrilla in recent years following 2004’s “The Motorcycle Diaries,” starring Gael García Bernal as a young Che.

Eliza Dushku, Chris Pine and Rachael Taylor are joining the cast of “Bottle Shock,” a drama about the birth of the Napa Valley wine industry, per The Hollywood Reporter.

Bill Pullman and Alan Rickman have also been announced in the cast.

Set in the 1970s, “Bottle” is based on the true story of the Montelena Winery, which won an international wine-tasting competition and established the NoCal area as a wine mecca.

Pine (“Just My Luck”) will play the son of the vineyard owner (Pullman), who saves the winery and represents Napa in the tasting contest. Taylor (“Transformers,” “See No Evil”) plays a college student who interns at the winery.

Dushku would play a local bartender and Rickman as an Englishman who runs the competition won by Montelena.
