As the curtains close on Steve Carell’s epic run as “The Office” boss Michael Scott, the hilarious actor’s schedule is already jam-packed with multiple film projects, including a possible teaming with “Atonement” star Keira Knightley, according to Deadline.
The 48–year-old funnyman has reportedly signed on for Lorene Scafaria’s “A Friend For The End of The World,” a dark romance about a man who journeys to find his high school sweetheart after learning an incoming asteroid will soon destroy the planet, according to the site.
British beauty Keira is reportedly in talks to co-star with Steve as his neighbor who accompanies him on the doomsday road trip.
The film, written by Scafaria, will mark the screenwriter’s directorial debut – she previously penned 2008’s “Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist,” starring Michael Cera and Kat Dennings.
In addition to “A Friend For The End…,” Steve has been cast in David Frankel’s upcoming “Great Hope Springs,” alongside the legendary Meryl Streep.
A release date for “A Friend For The End of The World” has yet to be released, while “Great Hope Springs” is due to hit theaters in 2012.
