Casting Call: Tom Cruise’s New Leading Lady

A new “Hero” joins NBC. FOX adds two new jailbirds to “Prison Break.” Jack Black heads back to school and Tom Cruise gets a new leading lady! It’s all in today’s Access Hollywood Casting Call?

Carice Van Houten has signed on to star opposite Tom Cruise in “Valkyrie,” the World War II-set feature film, per The Hollywood Reporter.

Story is based on true-life attempts to assassinate Adolf Hitler during the height of WWII.

Also joining Cruise and Van Houten in the cast are Tom Wilkinson and Kenneth Branagh.

This will mark the first U.S. feature role for Van Houten, who has starred in several European films. She will play the love interest to Cruise’s main character.

Jack Black has attached himself to new comedy “Man-Witch,” reports Variety.

The comedian will play a schoolteacher who suddenly discovers he has witchlike abilities. Taken in by a coven, he is persuaded to attend a school for witches, only to discover that his classmates are all girls.

Black will also produce.

His upcoming projects include “Margot at the Wedding” – a dramedy starring Nicole Kidman and John Turturo; “Be Kind Rewind” with Danny Glover and Mos Def; and the animated feature “Kung Fu Panda,” where he voices the lead character Po the Panda.

Move over Milo and Masi – a new “Hero” is coming to town.

Nick D’Agosto will join the cast of the NBC smash sci-fi drama “Heroes,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

He will play Hayden Panettiere’s boyfriend West, who possesses a “very cool superpower.”

D’Agosto previously appeared in a CBS pilot with Marisa Tomei called “The Rich Inner Life of Penelope Cloud” and also starred alongside Mena Suvari in another CBS pilot called “Orpheus.”

His other credits include guest spots on “Cold Case,” “Six Feet Under,” “ER” and “Boston Public.”

“Nick is one of the best young actors working today and a perfect fit for Heroes. We think Claire & West will be the couple to watch this Fall,” Dennis Hammer, “Heroes” executive producer, told Access Hollywood.

D’Agosto joins the previously announced Dania Ramirez as a “Heroes” regular.

Robert Wisdom and Jodi Lyn O’Keefe are joining the cast of FOX’s “Prison Break,” per The Hollywood Reporter.

Wisdom, whose recent credits include the film “Freedom Writers” and HBO’s “The Wire,” will play a Panamanian drug lord named Luchero who is also locked up in the Panama prison where Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) is incarcerated.

The 27-year-old O’Keefe has been cast as Betty Crocker, an operative for the Company, the omnipresent federal conspiracy organization.

Her TV credits include spots on “Raines,” “CSI: NY,” “Criminal Minds,” “Two and a Half Men” and “The Evidence.”

Meanwhile, O’Keefe will play Betty Crocker, an operative for the Company, a shadowy government conspiracy organization.

Production on the third season of “Prison Break” is scheduled to begin July 2. The new season debuts in the fall.
