Catching Fire: Coldplay To Release First Track From Hunger Games Sequel

“The Hunger Games” soundtrack featured Taylor Swift and The Civil Wars’ hit “Safe & Sound,” and “Catching Fire’s” soundtrack will boast major star power as well.

Coldplay will release the “Hunger Games” sequel’s first track, titled “Atlas,” on August 26, Lionsgate and Republic Records announced on Friday.

“I have great respect and admiration for Coldplay, and we are thrilled with how well they have connected to the themes and ideas within the film,” “Catching Fire” director Francis Lawrence said in a statement. “Their unwavering passion and excitement for the project elevated the collaboration even further, and we can’t wait to share this music with audiences around the world.”

The song marks the first time Coldplay has recorded an original song for a motion picture.

“Atlas” will be available on iTunes and digital retailers on August 26.

“The Hunger Games: Catching Fire,” featuring Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson, will hit theaters on November 22.
