Catching Fire: Mia Wasikowska In Talks To Play Johanna In Hunger Games Sequel?

From “Jane Eyre” to “The Hunger Games”?

Mia Wasikowska is in the running for the role of Johanna Mason in “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire,” according to a new report.

Indiewire’s The Playlist blog reports Mia, 22 — best known for starring opposite Michael Fassbender in “Jane Eyre” and alongside Johnny Depp in Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland” — is a strong contender for the role of Johanna, aka Katniss Everdeen’s axe-wielding reluctant ally from District 7.

Also being considered for Johanna is model/actress Zoe Aggeliki, according to the website.

A relative newcomer, Zoe, 18, will soon be seen on the big screen alongside Ryan Reynolds, Jeff Bridges and Kevin Bacon in “R.I.P.D.,” a supernatural action comedy due to hit theaters in June 2013.

Whoever nabs the “Catching Fire” role will also appear in the third film of the “Hunger Games” franchise, “Mockingjay,” as the character of Johanna is integral to that storyline as well.

“The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” begins shooting later this year and is slated for theatrical release on November 22, 2013.
