CBS is prying loose “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” from its long-time Thursdayslot next fall to make room for a new drama from “Lost” creator J.J. Abrams, the network announced Wednesday.
That thriller, “Person of Interest,” will star former “Lost” cast member Michael Emerson. “CSI” moves to Wednesday in the schedule.
CBS announced two other new dramas. “Unforgettable” focuses on a former police detective with a flawless memory. On “A Gifted Man,” a surgeon’s deceased ex-wife returns from the hereafter.
New comedies include “2 Broke Girls,” about a pair of diner waitresses, and “How to Be a Gentleman,” about a refined newspaper columnist and his unrefined personal trainer.
CBS is also moving its drama “The Good Wife” from Tuesday nights to Sunday at p.m., and placing “Undercover Boss” on the bench until midseason.
The most popular and stable network, CBS added the fewest new series of the Big Four. It is doing so well that it ran out of room — taking the unusual step of scheduling the comedy “Rules of Engagement” on Saturday night and giving one of its new dramas to the affiliated CW network.
“We needed another night,” said CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler. “We needed “Schnursday.’”
“Two and a Half Men,” with Ashton Kutcher replacing Charlie Sheen, stays put on Monday. CBS executives wouldn’t give any details about how Kutcher will be written in to the series, or how Sheen will be written out.
