Channing Tatum’s ‘Foxcatcher’ Character Too Much For Wife Jenna

Channing Tatum makes a grand departure from some of his funnier roles (like the bumbling Jenko in the “21 Jump Street” franchise) in the upcoming drama, “Foxcatcher.”

The sexy star plays Olympic wrestler Mark Schultz in the film (whose brother is murdered by his wrestling coach, played by Steve Carell), and Channing’s embodiment of the character and dark subject matter was too much for Channing’s wife, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, who ended a visit to the set a little earlier than she’d planned.

“I was pregnant, so I came already hormonal,” Jenna told Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson at the Hollywood Film Awards, when asked why she left the “Foxcatcher” set ahead of schedule. “It was so interesting because he was so in character, channeling this sort of intense dark character that I was like – and it was winter – I was like I’m going to go back to California!”

Channing said it was hard to not bring his work home after teaming up with director Bennett Miller on the intense drama.

“Bennett creates an environment that you can’t shake off at the end of the day,” he told Shaun. “And, you know, you try to come home and make her laugh, [but ] I just couldn’t do it. I tried.

“And pregnant women – if you don’t know – are very emotional as it is,” he added with a laugh.

“Foxcatcher” is in theaters now.
