Channing Tatum’s ‘X-Men’ Gambit Spinoff  Gets Release Date

After years of campaigning to star as beloved mutant Gambit, Channing Tatum’s wish will come true in 2016!

Fox announced that the “X-Men” spinoff, about the hero with the power to harness kinetic energy and a love of card throwing, will hit the big screen on October 7, 2016.

The Cajun character, whose name is Remy LeBeau and debuted in the “X-Men” comics in the ’90s, was first portrayed on the big screen by Taylor Kitsch in 2009’s “X-Men Origins: Wolverine.”

The actor Tweeted on Monday night, “How do you say October 7, 2016 in Cajun?”

The Gambit movie will be Fox’s eighth “X-Men” feature. The mutants will next be seen in “X-Men: Apocalypse” on May 27, 2016.
