Chris Hemsworth Reveals The Moment He First Felt Like A Norse God In ‘Thor’

Chris Hemsworth makes his superhero debut this weekend when Marvel’s “Thor” hits theaters, but the actor said he didn’t truly feel like a Norse God until he picked up his mighty hammer.

“Until that point, I was trying to convince myself that I could pull it off, and you get on set and you’ve been reading the comics and envisioning the character and all of a sudden, you have that costume on and that hammer,” Chris told Access Hollywood at the “Thor” junket over the weekend. “And that was the first time I kind of sort of felt like the guy.”

The 27-year-old Aussie actor said he felt pressure to live up to the character’s otherworldly comic book physique.

“I read the comics and noticed that the guy was 10 times bigger than I was ever going to be, but you know, I had to make an effort,” he told Access. “So, I got in the gym, six, seven days a week and force fed myself buckets of protein… the Hugh Jackman diet, it’s pretty similar.”

A regiment that has the actor crying fowl!

“I just hate chickens now, I don’t want to see them or look at them,” he explained. “I say that, but I just had chicken for lunch. I’m sort of used to the pain.”

When it comes to the upcoming “The Avengers,” which will unite the Norse God with The Hulk, Iron Man and Captain America, the actor said it will be filled with plenty superhero conflict.

“It’s not an easy road, there’s some big ego in those characters, lots of tension and fun to be had,” Chris said of the 2012 Marvel movie.

The actor also hinted that “Thor” has a few clues about ensemble project.

“Stick around for the credits,” he said with a smile.

Access also spoke to Tom Hiddleston, who plays Thor’s foe, Loki. The actor revealed that his character will live to fight more superheroes in “The Avengers.”

“Loki is the main villain in ‘The Avengers.’ There you go, you heard it here first,” Tom revealed to Access. “He’s go bigger plans… and it’s going to take seven superheroes to stop him. Good luck to them, is all I’ll say!”

“Thor” hits theaters on Friday.
