Chris Hemsworth’s no criminal, but he has spent some memorable time in prison.
The Aussie actor revealed during an appearance on Friday’s “Graham Norton Show” that he’d visited a correctional facility to prepare for a movie role, only to discover that his heartthrob status had already made its way behind bars.
“The wardens said, ‘You can’t wear your hat,’ and so on, and I said, ‘OK, no worries,'” the 32-year-old said, explaining that he’d arrived with his long “Avengers” locks in a ponytail to try and stay under the radar.

“I thought, ‘Oh s***, they’re going to know who I am.’ Then I thought, ‘No, they don’t get ‘Thor’ in here, they’re not going to watch movies,'” he continued. “I don’t know. I’d never been to prison. I assumed that.”
Chris’ assumption was ultimately proved wrong, he admitted, when the inmates recognized him instantly – and made sure to let him know.

“And the moment I started walking through the cells … I just start getting heckled,” he said. “It’s like, ‘Yo, yo, Thor’s here, man. Yo, Thor’s here. Yo, Thor, Thor! Where’s your hammer, man?'”
His character study was made all the more difficult, Chris said, as the catcalls only continued.
“I’m trying to blend in, doing ‘research,’ and I’m just getting heckled left and right. ‘Yo, come spend some time in my cell, baby!'” he laughed.
Chris’ next film, “In the Heart of the Sea,” hits theaters on Dec. 11.
