Christine Ha’s MasterChef Thai Basil Beef Recipe (Access Hollywood Live)

Now, a contestant on FOX’s “MasterChef,” Christine stops by Access Hollywood Live to share the recipe for the dish that put her through to the next round in the competition!

Thai Basil Beef

Ingredients:

3/4 lb. ground beef

1.5 tbsp. fish sauce

1 tbsp. soy sauce

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 red chili pepper, seeded and minced, or 3/4 tbsp. garlic chili sauce

1/2 tbsp. sugar

Fresh Thai basil to taste, stems removed

1/2 tbsp. oil for cooking

Juice of 1/4 lime

Minced cilantro for garnish (optional)

Steamed rice

Directions:

1. In a med. bowl, combine beef with fish sauce, soy sauce, garlic, red pepper or garlic chili sauce, and sugar; cover and set aside.

2. In a lg. skillet or wok, heat oil over med.-high heat. Add beef and cook until just browned. Strain pan of oil if desired. Reduce heat to low, add basil leaves, cover, and simmer until beef is cooked through, approx. 5 to 10 min. Add lime juice and mix. Garnish with cilantro if desired, and serve with steamed rice.
