In a surprising move, Cindy McCain, wife of former Presidential candidate Senator John McCain, is speaking out on behalf of gay marriage rights as part of a popular ongoing photo campaign.
Cindy appears with her mouth taped shut and her hand on her heart in a photograph for Adam Bouska’s NOH8 Campaign, which aims to raise awareness for the fight for marriage equality in California.
According to the NOH8 Web site, “Cindy McCain wanted to participate in the campaign to show people that party doesn’t matter – marriage equality isn’t a Republican issue any more than it is a Democratic issue. It’s about human rights, and everybody being treated equally in the eyes of the law that runs and protects this country.”
Cindy joins a long list of celebrities who have also posed for Bouska, including Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Pete Wentz, Kim Kardashian and her sisters Khloe and Kourtney, Kristin Cavallari, Tara Reid, Kathy Griffin, Steve-O, “The Office” star BJ Novak, “Lost” star Michael Emerson, Lisa Ling and Cher.
And in even more surprising entertainment-related political news today, Zsa Zsa Gabor’s husband, Prince Frederic von Anhalt, will announce his intention to run for governor of California on January 25.
His campaign platform, which is titled “Return the Good Life to California,” would “create a Sin Tax” to generate money on the legalization of marijuana, add a 10-cent tax on every drink sold in a restaurant, and “add a buck to every liquor bottle and pack of cigarettes sold.” He would also like to open the border with Mexico and lift the ban on Cuban cigars and products.
Governor Schwarzenegger’s term ends in 2011.
