Cinemax’s Banshee Sets Season 2 Premiere Date; What’s Next For Lucas Hood?

He barely made it out of Season 1 alive, but Lucas Hood will be back when “Banshee” returns to Cinemax for Season 2 in January.

The network has confirmed that the series, from executive producers Alan Ball, Peter Macdissi, Jonathan Tropper, David Schickler and Greg Yaitanes, will premiere its second season on Friday, January 10 at 10 PM ET/PT.

Ivana Milicevic who plays Carrie/Ana on the heart-pounding series, told AccessHollywood.com that Lucas (Antony Starr) won’t be the exact same guy when fans see him next.

“There’s a next level of growth for Lucas Hood,” she previously told Access. “If the last year was about just like being selfish and taking back what he thought was his, maybe this year there’s more of a growth about that and reevaluating of, ‘Wait, how has that worked for me?’ So there is growth in the characters. … It’s still equally intense. There’s still gonna be no stones left unturned, you’re gonna still not be able to catch your breath — or else we haven’t ‘Banshee-d’ correctly.”

Addressing that same topic, Antony said the collection of people that came together in the show’s season finale to save Lucas from Ana’s father, Rabbit, helped propel the change in his character.

“Everything was about Ana in the first season… now he’s got a community. You’ve gotta look at it like this… He committed suicide, basically. He swapped himself out for [Ana/Carrie’s son], effectively going, ‘Yep, Rabbit’s gonna kill me. I accept that, so that’s a massive change from Episode 1, [where he] was this guy just coming up basically to f*** everyone over and get back what was his. So, there’s already a massive growth going on,” Antony said.

“He got tortured by Rabbit, went unconscious, for all he knows waking up was never gonna happen. He does and realizes that everyone, without [him knowing], this community of people have gone [to] bat for him,” Antony continued. “For someone that… just has this massive sense of being an outsider and needs to belong, that must be huge.”

Outside of seeing how that will affect Lucas in Season 2, fans can expect even more fireworks between Kai Proctor (Ulrich Thomsen) and Alex Longshadow (Anthony Ruivivar).

“A major thrust of this season is Proctor’s battle with the Native Americans, and Alex Longshadow, who was sort of a minor character in Season 1, becomes a very significant character in Season 2 as he and Proctor battle over the future of this casino in Banshee,” Jonathan previously told Access.

The mayor’s death at the end of the first season, which occurred when Kai handed his niece, Rebecca Bowman (Lili Simmons), a phone, which unbeknownst to her was a bomb trigger (one she set off, blowing up the frame of a casino), will also be dealt with.

“The aftermath of the mayor’s untimely death is definitely one of the — it’s touched on in the season opener,” Greg previously told Access. “It’s something that is still resonating for both Rebecca and for the town. We also see how this town copes with death. We’ve seen a lot of death last year, but putting a face on [it] and seeing a town mourn even briefly at least acknowledges [it was] something significant.

And the real Lucas Hood’s son will be coming to town after watching Antony’s fake Lucas on a YouTube clip.

“Jason Hood does show up in Banshee and that creates a significant complication for everybody involved, but he becomes a part of the town in ways you would not expect,” Jonathan said. “It’s not just coming and realizing ‘You’re not my dad.’ There’s a lot that goes on when he shows up.”

“Banshee” Season 2 premieres January 10 at 10 PM ET/PT on Cinemax.
