Clay Aiken Returns To Broadway

Clay Aiken made quite a splash in his Broadway debut in Monty Python’s “Spamalot,” earlier this year and the “American Idol” alum is bound for the Great White Way once again.

Clay will reprise his “Spamalot” role of Sir Robin, Access Hollywood has confirmed.

“Since leaving ‘Spamalot’ in May, jokes have just not been funny. Food has lost its taste. The grass is no longer green — the sky no longer blue,” Clay said of his time away from the stage. “And, babies WON’T stop crying!! I’m so excited about coming back to the funniest show in the world!” Clay said in a statement released to Access.

Clay referenced crying babies, as he just became a first-time father last week when the crooner and his friend, Jaymes Foster (sister of record mogul David Foster), welcomed a little boy into world. Foster was artificially inseminated, a rep for Aiken confirmed to Access previously.

Shortly after the birth, Clay hit his Web site to share the news with the “Clay-mates,” the nickname given to fans of the redheaded star.

“HE’S HERE!” Clay blogged. “My dear friend, Jaymes, and I are so excited to announce the birth of Parker Foster Aiken (No hyphens. One first name. One middle name. One last name.).”

The little boy was born in Clay’s home state, North Carolina, at around 8:08 AM, on “08/08/08,” the singer added.

Clay will be doing double duty as a Broadway actor and father at the Shubert Theatre, from September 19 through January 4, 2009.
