Comic-Con: Warner Bros. Drops New ‘Batman V Superman’ Trailer

Consider the “Dawn of Justice” upon us. DC Comics and Warner Bros. have dropped a second full-length trailer for “Batman v Superman.”

The 6,000-plus Comic-Con goers inside Hall H of the San Diego Convention Center were the first to catch the new clip on Saturday, and saw plenty more to talk about than just the dueling caped crusaders.

In addition to Ben Affleck’s brooding vigilante and Henry Cavill’s alien savior, the trailer also features Gal Gadot in full Wonder Woman mode, as well as Jesse Eisenberg’s shaggy-haired Lex Luthor, who delivers the most quotably sinister lines.

“Devils don’t come from hell beneath us. They come from the sky,” he sneers. “Black and blue. God versus man. Day versus night. The red capes are coming.”

The film appears to pick up right after the events of 2013’s “Man of Steel,” following Superman and General Zod’s violent battle that left Metropolis in shambles. A grizzled, jaded Bruce Wayne is inspired to take on the city’s mysterious new figure, now under serious media and governmental scrutiny.

But wait. Isn’t Batman from Gotham? Director Zack Snyder explained the geographic confusion during the Warner Bros. Comic-Con panel.

“The big rule we broke is we put Metropolis and Gotham City right next to each other,” he said, likening the two locations as “sister cities across a big bay.”

Die-hard fans might find this tweak a contrivance, but many are likely just pleased to see their two favorite comic book icons finally facing off on the big screen.

Judging from the trailer, Affleck’s dark knight is more than ready to wage an epic war.

“He has the power to wipe out the entire human race,” Batman growls of his new nemesis. “I’m going to have to destroy him.”

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” hits theaters on March 25, 2016.
