Conan O’Brien Takes The ‘Tonight Show’ Stage For The First Time

Conan O’Brien put in his first day of work as the official host of “The Tonight Show” on Monday evening and during his opening monologue, he revealed he’s already gone Hollywood.

“My life has really changed since I moved to LA,” Conan told the studio audience, which numbered around 380. “I think [that’s] the part of this whole thing that’s fascinated a lot of people… I live in LA, bit of a celebrity now… Anyway that means one thing; I’m going to be going to Laker games… I know I’m not from this town, but I’m gonna be going to Laker games, and I’m gonna be sitting with all my celebrity friends and you’re gonna be seeing me on television and just deal with it ‘cause that’s how I roll now.”

After a quick clip of Laker die-hard Jack Nicholson courtside, the camera panned up to the top of the Staples center to reveal Conan at the very back.

But beyond revealing details about his new LA life, Conan also mixed heartfelt moments with jokes during his first “Tonight Show” monologue.

“Ladies and gentlemen, this is a huge night for me. I remember watching Johnny Carson when I was a kid and thinking,‘That’s what I wanna be when I grow up,’” he said as he stood on his brand new “Tonight Show” stage. “I’m sure right now, somewhere in America, there’s a little kid watching me thinking — What is wrong with that man’s hair? Is that even a man? Why is she crying.”

Comedian Will Ferrell helped make the occasion even more special for the redheaded funnyman.

After serving as Conan’s final “Late Night” guest back in February, Will took to Conan’s new gig, entering on a throne, carried by several men.

And the “Land Of The Lost” star attempted to give the California transplant some tips on his new home base. Among the advice? There’s a great burger joint in South Pasadena called Burger King, and the LAPD are so nice they will let you borrow their gun for a day.

Pearl Jam rounded out the night with a musical performance.
