Constantine Maroulis Takes A Punch Defending Paula Abdul

Paula Abdul’s departure from “American Idol” has stirred strong feelings in fans across the country – and it also reportedly got Constantine Maroulis beat up.

According to The New York Daily News’ Gatecrasher, the former “Idol” contestant, Tony Award nominee and current star of Broadway’s “Rock of Ages” got into a fight over Paula Abdul Wednesday night at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City.

The incident occurred after the 33-year-old rocker reportedly got into an argument with a fellow clubgoer about whether the judge should come back to the FOX series. The anti-Paula patron reportedly punched Constantine, pushed him down and then kicked him multiple times before club security could break up the fight.

“It was hilarious! Constantine got into it with this guy who was probably 6 inches shorter and 60 pounds lighter,” an eyewitness claimed. “The guy body-slammed him and punched him in the face and then just stood up, straightened his tie, and said, ‘B***h, don’t you ever,’ before walking away.”

The eyewitness said the Broadway rocker was left stunned by the sudden attack.

“Security didn’t know what to make of this guy. He was so well-groomed in his suit, and he didn’t look like a threat at all. Constantine was so overwhelmed he just sat there on the floor for a few minutes,” the eyewitness added.

Constantine confirmed the fight hours later on his Twitter.

“I’m FINE! Some drunk dude tackled me in the middle of the concert and jumped on me,” he Tweeted. “Broke up quick, didn’t even know him. Or throw one punch. I don’t mind a fight…but only when its fair and I’m lookin.”
