Coroner: Casey Johnson Died From Natural Causes, Complications From Diabetes

Casey Johnson died of natural causes and complications from diabetes, the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office announced on Thursday.

Johnson, the heiress to the Johnson & Johnson empire, was found dead in her Los Angeles home on January 4. She was 30.

The press release from the coroner’s office listed the condition Diabetic Ketoacidosis as one of the causes of her death.

Diabetic Ketoacidosis is described as a potentially life-threatening complication, which results from an absolute shortage of insulin in the body. It happens predominantly to people who suffer from Type 1 Diabetes, but it can occur in Type 2 patients as well.

Further autopsy results will be announced in the next two weeks, the coroner’s office noted.

Johnson was the fiancee of reality starlet Tila Tequila.
