Coroner Defers Cause Of Death In Casey Johnson Case Pending Toxicology Results; Private Funeral Service To Be Held Later This Week

The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office has completed its autopsy of Johnson & Johnson heiress Casey Johnson.

The autopsy on the 30-year-old celebutante was conducted on Tuesday, the Coroner’s office confirmed in a statement to Access Hollywood. The cause of death has been deferred pending toxicology tests and “microscopic studies,” the deputy medical examiner ordered.

No ruling over Casey’s cause of death will be made until the results have been received and reviewed, however, there was “no evidence of trauma to the body,” the Coroner’s office noted in their statement. The results may take more than eight weeks.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Casey’s body was discovered on Monday.

She was engaged to former reality star Tila Tequila at the time of her death.

On Tuesday night, Jesse Derris, spokesman for the Johnson family, said Casey will be buried later this week.

“The Johnson family wishes to thank everyone who has expressed condolences and support during this trying time. Your thoughts and prayers are deeply appreciated,” Derris said in the statement. “The family has arranged for Casey to be flown back east to her final resting place. There will be a private funeral service later this week for the immediate family.

“The family asks for a measure of privacy over the next several days as they mourn their loss. No other information will be released at this time,” the statement continued. “For the many who have asked what they can do to honor Casey’s memory, we ask simply that you consider making a donation to the Casey Johnson Memorial at the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International (www.jdrf.org). Casey struggled throughout her life fighting this disease, and she would want to see all of us continue that fight on her behalf.”
