Could Tom And Brooke’s Kids Have A Joint Birthday Party?

Brooke Shields may not necessarily be throwing a joint birthday party for her youngest daughter, Grier, with Tom & Katie?s daughter, Suri, but she’s not ruling it out entirely either.

Access caught up with Brooke at the Saks Fifth Avenue Colleagues Luncheon and fashion show, and asked if Grier and Suri would be celebrating their first birthdays together, since they were born in the same hospital on the same day (April 18th).

“Everybody’s asking that,” she said, laughing. “We haven’t planned that yet. I think they’re going to be away for her birthday. So maybe after.”

This day, however, was all about Brooke’s work with children.

Brooke was decked out in Oscar de la Renta for the luncheon, where she and husband Chris Henchy accepted The Colleagues “Champions of Children” award, presented by Nancy Reagan.

“Obviously it’s an honor and to get the award from Mrs. Reagan,” Brooke said. “It is a huge honor. But, the honor is being given the opportunity to help kids, and when you visit any one of these organizations or any one of these centers and you see the babies faces, you realize that they are the real — they are the ones in need.”

Brooke feels that becoming a parent has strengthened her focus on children in need. “I’ve always focused on children. I really have,” she said, “It’s always been my main focus, but what I’ve noticed is by becoming a parent I’ve become more aware of how lucky my kids are.”

Brooke summed things up with this simple philosophy: “[There are] things that we don’t even think to be thankful for, and therefore we need to do even more.”
