Courtney Love Takes On New Name, Says ‘Courtney Love Is Dead’

Courtney Love has a new name.

“Courtney Michelle,” she told the U.K.’s NME. “The name Courtney Love is a way to oppress me… we’ve all decided we don’t like her any more.”

The rocker, who was born Courtney Michelle Harrison, is going back to her given name as she gears up for the release of Hole’s “Nobody’s Daughter,” due next Tuesday.

She also told the mag she was “sick” of taking questions about her deceased husband, former Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, who shot himself in 1994.

“I am not his spokesperson on Earth,” she said. “I don’t know what he’d be like now, he could be into society girls, he could be into fat girls, he could be homosexual. We don’t know, he died at 27.”

However, Courtney, who lost custody over daughter Francis Bean Cobain last year, admitted that she’s feeling “so alone.”

“I’m ultimately a widow and a single mother, who’s not even getting to be a mother right now. I am so alone, it’s freaky,” she told the mag.
