Cristian Suffers Injury On ‘Dancing’; Jason Takes Over The Leader Board

Latin heartthrob Cristian de la Fuente was forced to leave “Dancing With the Stars” early on Monday night, after suffering a pulled arm muscle during his second dance for the evening with partner Cheryl Burke.

Monday was the first night the couples had to do two dances in just one show and though Cristian and Cheryl sauntered through their ballroom round Viennese waltz with little difficulty, during their second dance, in the Latin round, he appeared to grimace early on in the number.

As the dance continued, Cristian was seen grasping his arm, eventually falling on top of Cheryl at the end of the routine, with a pained look on his face.

“Sorry, I pulled a muscle,” Cristian told host Tom Bergeron. “I tried to keep going.”

The show quickly cut to a commercial and following the break, Tom said an EMT had diagnosed Cristian with a severe muscle cramp in his arm.

He was taken to the hospital following the show, but not before getting comments on his final dance from the judges.

“I really appreciate that you went the whole round and you were there for Cheryl,” Carrie Ann Inaba said.

Yet sadly for the couple, their first dance netted a 25, while their Latin number brought in just 21 out of 30, for a total score of 46/60 for the evening, placing them at the very bottom of the leader board.

Access Hollywood has learned Cristian left the hospital later on Monday night.

In related competition news, Monday night’s episode saw the return of Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska. The NFL star and his professional partner bounced leader board champs Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas to take the top slot by one point. Their ace in the hole for the evening came in the ballroom round, when they took the quickstep to a score of 29 out of 30.

“With performances like that, you’re in the final,” judge Len Goodman raved.

And there was some good news for Kristi too. Her cha cha with Mark brought out a 28 out of 30, and a disagreement from the judges. While Len chastised the couple for their mini dance-off during the routine, Bruno Tonioli took Len on and complimented the duo.

“Why don’t you move into the future?” Bruno shouted over Len. “Shake off the cobwebs of the cha cha cha.”

And it was a thumbs up, or rather three, from Carrie Ann too.

The total scores from Monday night’s “Dancing With the Stars” were:

Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska 55/60
Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas 54/60
Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony Dovolani 52/60
Mario and Karina Smirnoff 51/60
Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough 51/60
Cristian de la Fuente and Cheryl Burke 46/60
