Damon & Winslet To Go 3-D In ‘Contagion’

Steven Soderbergh has caught the 3-D bug.

The director’s upcoming film, “Contagion,” will go 3-D, Warner Bros. announced on Friday, his first try at the format.

The film has been slated for October 21, 2011, and will star Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Marion Cotillard and Jude Law.

Matt, who was once considered by James Cameron for the leading role in “Avatar,” will also make his 3-D debut with the film.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, the thriller – focused on a deadly disease – will follow multiple plotlines a la Soderbergh’s Oscar-winning “Traffic.”

The director has also been attached to direct another 3-D movie, the musical Antony and Cleopatra retelling “Cleo,” though the film — first announced in 2008 — has yet to receive a release date.

Amongst the other release dates unveiled by Warner Bros. were “Twilight” director Catherine Hardwicke’s “Red Riding Hood,” set for April 22, 2011; “Twilight Saga” star Ashley Greene’s horror original “The Apparition,” due September 9, 2011; “Final Destination 5,” another installment of the horror franchise, scheduled for August 26, 2011; the “Valentine’s Day” follow-up “New Year’s Eve,” due December 9, 2011; and “Journey To The Center of the Earth 2,” the sequel to the 2008 Brendan Fraser action film, due September 23, 2011.
