‘Dancing’: Carlos PenaVega Disappointed Over Exit, But Marriage Stronger Than Ever

Carlos PenaVega and pro-partner Witney Carson earned perfect scores on Monday’s “Dancing with the Stars,” then were promptly eliminated.

The “Big Time Rush” singer handled getting the boot with grace, but admitted he’s disappointed.

“It’s bittersweet. At the end of the day we knew that this was a competition and we were either gonna win it or we were gonna not win it,” Carlos told Access Hollywood’s Liz Hernandez after the show. “So you kind of prepare yourself.

“I don’t think that we were actually prepared to leave tonight – which is kind of just like a little ‘ah,’ but we’re still coming back tomorrow,” he continued. “There’s a huge finale, it’s gonna be at The Grove [in LA]. We’re gonna be doing our jive, ‘Magic Mike’ again. Like, it’s gonna be off the charts.”

Disappointing elimination aside, Carlos is grateful for the “DWTS” experience and pleased that competing on ABC dance competition alongside his wife, Alexa PenaVega (who got the boot earlier this month), strengthened the couple’s marital bond.

“Dancing can be sometimes a very sexual thing. And for a husband and wife, it may be weird to watch your husband, or watch your wife, do that type of stuff,” Carlos explained. “And [with] both of us being on the show, we kind of built this trust that I think is really special, because most marriages don’t get to go through that type of thing, and if they do, that doesn’t always end up right.

“So we kind of got to go and experience that, but in a safe environment,” he continued. “But our trust really got built up and, you know, she’s my everything. And the fact that my marriage got stronger through this, like I can’t ask for anything else.”

“Dancing with the Stars” Season 21 finale airs Tuesday at 9/8c on ABC.
