Dancing With The Stars: ABC Boss Says Maksim Chmerkovsky ‘May Well Be Back’

Maksim Chmerkovskiy could return for “Dancing with the Stars” Season 17.

On Sunday, at the Television Critics Association Summer Tour in Beverly Hillls, ABC President of Entertainment Paul Lee was asked about the status of the popular dancer on the ABC reality competition, a pro who wasn’t paired with a celebrity in Season 16 (his first time since Season 6), and Lee said Maks could be back.

“Maks is part of the family. He may well be back,” Lee said of the potential of Maks to return this fall.

“Yes,” Derek replied when Access Hollywood asked him at the Young Hollywood Awards in Los Angeles on Thursday if he is coming back. “And the format’s changing. We’ve got one show a week now, but I think it’ll make a better show, more jam packed. And so I’m excited about it.”

“Dancing with the Stars” Season 17 returns on Monday, September 16 at 8/7c.
