“Dancing with the Stars” opened its show on Monday night by acknowledging the tragedy in Boston.
After quietly opening the show without music, co-hosts Tom Bergeron and Brooke Burke-Charvet addressed the viewers at home.
“Before we officially begin the show, we just want to take a moment,” Tom said.
“Our thoughts are with everyone in Boston tonight,” he continued. “I have family members and many friends there. My heart is with you.”

Brooke then noted the show would still go on, but with Boston not far from the thoughts of the cast and crew.
“Our entire cast is thinking about you. And, as always, our show has been planned in advance and hopefully we can still have an entertaining night of competition for you,” she said.
