Dancing With The Stars Recap: A Shocking Elimination!

A shock was heard around the ballroom on “Dancing with the Stars” on Monday night when one contestant and her partner, despite tying the highest score of the night and earning the first 10 of the season, were eliminated.

(SPOILER ALERT: This story contains the results of Monday’s “DWTS.”)

Christina Milian and Mark Ballas were sent home even after they earned 28 points for their Monday competition cha cha that impressed newly returned British judge Len Goodman, who gave them the first 10 of the season.

“True shock,” Christina told show co-hosts Tom Bergeron and Brooke Burke-Charvet after she found out that she and Mark were going home. “I wasn’t expecting that, but you know, we had, I think, the best performance tonight that we’ve had thus far.”

Christina opened the show dancing to a song from “The Voice’s” CeeLo Green — “Forget You” — to reflect her most memorable year — 2010, the year she had her daughter, Violet, and the year she and her then-husband, The-Dream, split, following what she claimed was his infidelity.

Looking back on her time on the show, Christina said she departs having had a great time.

“I’ve made some great memories, great friends here, everybody’s been fantastic,” she said. “I’ve learned a lot about myself just being here. It’s been amazing and you know, if you take a challenge and take a great risk, you become a better person, so I’m really happy I did this.”

Mark said Christina worked hard throughout her time in the competition.

“I’m just very proud of Christina,” he said of his partner. “We worked really hard. She did great tonight and we went out with a bang.”

Corbin Bleu and Karina Smirnoff were the other pair to earn 28 points for the evening.

Corbin’s most memorable year was 2011, the year his younger sister, Phoenix, was diagnosed with scoliosis.

She cheered him on from the crowd as he gave a performance that impressed not only Phoenix, but the panel.

“You could be the lost child of Fred Astaire and Ben Vereen,” Bruno Tonioli told Corbin, following his fox trot with Karina.

Other high scorers of the night (who all earned 27 points) included Jack Osbourne and Cheryl Burke, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Sasha Farber and Brant Daugherty and Peta Murgatroyd.

“DWTS” continues next Monday night at 8/7c on ABC.
