‘Dancing’s’ Ralph Macchio Dishes On Translation Troubles; Plus, Karina Smirnoff Wedding Details!

Ralph Macchio and his “Dancing with the Stars” partner, Karina Smirnoff, walked away winners on last week’s Season 12 debut, nabbing the evening’s highest scores from the judges.

However, the former “Karate Kid” star says being number one comes with a price.

“I call [Karina] the whip-cracker,” Ralph told Access Hollywood at the couple’s rehearsal in LA on Friday. “My Russian dictator! We have lost in translation [moments], which [are] really funny.

“Our classic is when I was really tired and Karina said, ‘Are you slipping?’” Ralph continued, laughing. “And I said, ‘No, I’m awake. I’m awake — I’m just a little tired.’ And she said, ‘No, are you slipping, like sliding and slipping!’ We’ve had many of those [moments].”

Karina’s native dialect isn’t the only issue the front-running dance duo has had to face – Ralph revealed they also battle over his resistance to the famous “Dancing” airbrush tan.

“She goes, ‘I vant da spray tan!’” Ralph told Access, in his best Karina accent.

“He has to be orange! Everyone is orange! Orange you glad you’re on the show?” Karina joked, laughing.

Karina, a “Dancing” vet, has her hands full this season both on and off the dance floor. The 33-year-old beauty recently became engaged to her boyfriend of over a year, MLB player Brad Penny.

However, with most of the day spent sweating on the dance floor, Karina said wedding planning is inching forward very slowly.

“We’re talking about [the wedding] a lot and we now finalized the location,” Karina told Access. “It’s little by little. I had no idea this is like a full time job!

“I thought it’s like, ‘Yay! Getting married! So excited!’” she added. “And then now, it’s like [there’s a] list of things you’ve got to do.”

Due to Karina and her beau’s hectic schedules, the couple has opted for a destination wedding to provide some much-needed down time for their friends and loved ones.

“[We’re] definitely [having] a destination wedding because I think we both want to kind of give the family an opportunity to relax and [make] a mini-vacation out of it as well,” she told Access. “In terms of big, small, who’s coming, who’s not, it’s still all up in the air.

“You’re coming, right?” she asked Ralph, before adding a few stipulations as to where he’d be seated. “With the mirrorball, [you’ll be sitting] like, up close to the floor. Or, [without it] by the kitchen!”

“In a viewing trailer,” Ralph laughed.
