Dane DeHaan, best known for his role in “Chronicle” and currently appearing in “Lincoln,” has nabbed a highly coveted role in the upcoming “Amazing Spider-Man” sequel.
The 26-year-old will play Peter Parker’s best friend-turned-foe Harry Osborn, Columbia Pictures announced on Monday.
The actor took to Twitter, writing, “To say I’m excited is an understatement. #HarryOsborn #ASM2”
Earlier in the day, director Marc Webb Tweeted, “Meet Harry Osborn. So excited to have him on board.”
“Dane is an exciting and extraordinary young actor and he is a fantastic addition to our cast,” the director also said in a statement.
Dane joins Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Shailene Woodley and Jamie Foxx, who previously told Access Hollywood that his casting in the upcoming movie was “in the works.”
“The Amazing Spider-Man” sequel will swing into theaters on May 2, 2014, with production starting in early 2013.
