David Archuleta Thanks Fans For Supporting His Father

“American Idol” runner-up David Archuleta has thanked his fans for their well wishes for his father Jeff in a new blog posting.

“Thanks everyone for wishing my dad a happy Father’s Day,” the 17-year-old blogged on his MySpace page. “I really appreciate that and I know he does as well. He’s been great so I’m glad you guys took time to send him your messages.”

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Jeff emerged as a controversial figure during his son’s tenure on “Idol.”

While David competed on the show, Jeff was banned from rehearsals late in the season after the teen sang a line from Sean Kingston’s “Beautiful Girls,” while performing “Stand By Me” during a live “Idol” broadcast, costing the show a lot of money.

After a brief day off to celebrate Father’s Day, David is back rehearsing for the “American Idol” tour.

“Then after that, we’re having some more meetings on my own career,” the teen added.
