David Arquette Officially Files For Divorce From Courteney Cox

Nearly a year-and-a-half after they first confirmed publicly they had begun a trial separation, David Arquette has filed papers to divorce Courteney Cox, Access Hollywood has confirmed.

Arquette’s divorce papers, which were filed on June 8 (four days before what would have been the couple’s thirteenth wedding anniversary), were actually signed by the actor on March 23, 2012.

The actor cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split.

The couple first confirmed their trial separation to the media in October 2010, but the official date of separation listed on Arquette’s court filing is December 31, 2011.

Arquette is asking a judge to award him joint legal and physical custody of the couple’s daughter, Coco, who turns 8 on Wednesday.

The actor appears to be representing himself in the split with Cox.

Arquette and Cox married on June 12, 1999.
