David Beckham Re-Signs With LA Galaxy: I’m ‘Passionate About Playing In America’

David and Victoria Beckham are staying put in Los Angeles. The 36-year-old soccer superstar announced he has re-signed with the Los Angeles Galaxy.

“This was an important decision for me,” the midfielder said in a statement on the team’s website. “I had many offers from clubs from around the world, however, I’m still passionate about playing in America and winning trophies with the Galaxy.”

“I’ve seen first-hand how popular soccer is now in the States and I’m as committed as ever to growing the game here,” he added. “My family and I are incredibly happy and settled in America and we look forward to spending many more years here.”

Details of his new contract were not released.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, the star athlete was in talks to play for Paris Saint-Germain, but decided to keep his family stateside.

PSG president Nasser al-Khelaifi confirmed he wouldn’t be joining the team earlier this month saying, “David Beckham is not coming. We feel a little disappointed. But both sides agreed it would be better that we not do the deal … maybe in the future.”

The new MLS season starts in March.
